Shiva Seven Day Vegetable Oil Candle in Plastic Holder
Within Judaism, candles help us honor special events throughout life. A special seven day candle, called a Shiva Candle, named for the seven days of mourning following the funeral, is lit in the homes of the close family members.
In the third century, Rabbi Judah HaNasi instructed that a light should be kept burning in the presence of the mourners (Talmud Ketubot 103a)
